Questions?

If you are considering playing Midnight Sun volleyball, you likely have a few questions about the program. We have answered some of our most frequently asked questions below, but if you have additional questions, please browse the website and then send an email to midnightsunvolleyball@yahoo.com and we’ll get back to you as quickly as we can.

When does the club volleyball season run?

The season runs from November to April. Please check our team calendars here for practice times as well as tournament dates and locations. Click here to access team calendars.

Do teams practice over Christmas or Spring Break?

We do not practice over Christmas or Spring Break, but we do have tournaments on either side of Spring Break.

How long are club tryouts?

All tryouts are at the AT&T Center and each division will have two days – first look and evaluations and a second look for those who were invited back from the first tryout. Players are evaluated in a variety of physical and skill areas, as well as leadership qualities, how they interact with players and coaches, etc. For more information about tryouts, click here.

When and where are practices held?

All of our club teams practice two days a week for two hours each session. Practices and are held at either the AT&T gym behind the Alaska Club South or the Arctic Recreational Center, located on Arctic between Tudor and International Airport Road. We do not use school gyms because they can cancel our dates at any time and they generally do not have enough space for what we teach. For more information about where we practice, click here.

How many tournaments are there per season?

Each division participates in one large tournament a month for a total of four tournaments per season. There are also opportunities to try out for our outside trips to Vegas, Colorado, and Phoenix.

How many teams do you field per season?

Each season we fill out Varsity, JV Gold, JV Silver, C, 14s, and 12s divisions with up to four teams in each division.

Can players participate in high school or middle school sports?

We like our players to play many sports as they wish, though if you miss our practices for another junior sport, you will receive an unexcused absence. Players who go past three unexcused absences are dropped from the program. For more information about our practice attendance policy, click here.

What is the cost to participate on a Midnight Sun club team?

The cost of our program is a little over $700 for the four month program, whichg includes uniforms, four tournaments, four months of twice-a-week practices, insurance, coaching staff, first-class gym space, and many other amenities. How do I complete the club registration process?

Joining the club is a two step process:

 

First: The parent must register in our club program by using the link here or clicking the “Register Now” button below.

 

Second: The parent will then add the athlete during any open registration periods using the link the in the upper left corner of the dashboard.

 

If you have an account in the system, you will just need to log in using your credentials* and register your athlete for open events using the event registration link in the upper left corner of your dashboard.

 

*If you do not remember your password from a previous session, please do not set up a second account. Instead, use the forgot password button in your dashboard to access your original account and reset your password. If you don’t remember what email address you used to set up the original account, please email us at midnightsunvolleyball@yahoo.com so we can help you get the proper user id and email information.
